1.
When driving the type of braking should always be adapted to the climatological
conditions, the road condition and traffic.
|
2. The braking
space does not only depend on the brake system efficiency but also on
the tyre and shock absorber conditions.
|
3. Ideal
braking, within a limited space, is what causes a maximum speed reduction
without wheel locking. Wheel locking would result in instability and
loss of control of vehicle and a longer braking space.
|
4. It is
advisable to use the foot brake and avoid turning off the engine in
case of driving downhill for a long distance. After a short stop, check
the pedal effectiveness before starting off again.
|
5. When the
situation requires a constant use of the braking system, release the
brake pedal for a while from time to time.
|
6. After
a long stop, the first braking will be influenced by the time the vehicle
has been parked associated to the climatological conditions. You will
have to brake a few times to check the total efficiency of the pair
of disc-pads.
|
7. Check
that all braking system equipment operates correctly: liquid level,
pad and disc wearing, back light lamps, hand-brake warning light, etc.
Follow all the manufacturer instructions for brake liquid use (frequency,
quality).
|
8. Check
the efficiency of the hand brake periodically, trying to drive off the
vehicle with the hand brake on.
|
9. Use spare
parts produced by acknowledged manufacturers.
|
10. If possible,
use a vehicle equipped with a braking control system (ABS, etc.).
